Python is a high level, interpreted programming language released in 1991 by Guido van Rossum. Python is a general purpose language meaning programmers can use it write softwares in various application domains. Since it's inception, developers and researchers have developed an avalanche of libraries and features for python and it has grown to be a very important programming language in industry and research places. Let's explore the history of python programming language and learn the philosophies behind it.
Python Paradigms (Multi-paradigm)
Guido van Rossum thought of an idea of a new programming language while working at Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica in 1980s. He wanted it to be successor to the ABC programming language with more advanced features like error handling and to interface with the Amoeba operating system. Since he was also part of the team that developed ABC language working as an implementer, he incorporated the syntax features of it and some of it's good features.
In an interview with Bill Venners, Guido said
I remembered all my experience and some of my frustration with ABC. I decided to try to design a simple scripting language that possessed some of ABC's better properties, but without its problems. So I started typing. I created a simple virtual machine, a simple parser, and a simple runtime. I made my own version of the various ABC parts that I liked. I created a basic syntax, used indentation for statement grouping instead of curly braces or begin-end blocks, and developed a small number of powerful data types: a hash table (or dictionary, as we call it), a list, strings, and numbers.
Guido started working on the python as a hobby project. He wanted to something to keep him occupied on holidays. He named the language Python from BBC’s TV Show ‘Monty Python’s Flying Circus’. Programmers a obsessed with short, elegant and weird names, so he wanted something short and interesting. Guido the python's project "benevolent dictator for life" up until 2018 when he stepped down from that role.

version 0.9.0 (1991)
In 1991 Guido released the 0.9.0 version of python. It had error handling (exception handling) and the core data types, lists, strings, dictionaries (dict) and many others.
version 1 (1994)
Version 1 was the first major version released in 1994. The version included, among many other features, functional programming tools:
version 2 (2000)
The version supported Unicode and garbage collection features.
Python developed some features up-to 2008 releasing 2.0.0 2.x.x until the version 3 was released.
Python was introduced to remove some duplicate programming features or constructs and module, thus fulfilling the ''There should on preferable way of doing something" law.
